Laboratory Modernization Project
Project Description:
The Skirball Building Laboratory Modernization Project focuses on upgrading and enhancing the research facilities at the Skirball Institute of Biomolecular Medicine. This renovation targets approximately 100,000 square feet of the existing 170,000 square-foot building, with BSPK specifically supporting the modernization efforts on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Scope of Work:
BSPK provided LOD 350 plumbing modeling and coordination, including plumbing layout, penetration, and hanger drawings at a 1/4″ = 1′ 0″ scale. We also developed a bill of materials and supported up to 10 remote coordination meetings to align all stakeholders.
Summary:
The project involved modernizing laboratory spaces while keeping operations running smoothly. The challenge was coordinating complex plumbing systems in an active research environment. But at BSPK, We Know BIM Better, so our team ensured precise modeling, clear documentation, and seamless coordination to meet project goals without disrupting ongoing work.
